Sherri Papini's husband files for divorce to shield kids from her fame

Keith Papini filed for divorce from Sherri Papini, the Redding mother who admitted to faking her 2016 kidnapping and lying to the FBI about it.

Wednesday, Keith Papini filed for temporary custody of the couple's two children in Shasta County Superior Court.

So he wants to shield his kids from "the negative impact of their mother's notoriety."

Divorce is based on irreconcilable differences. Russell Swartz, of Redding, represents Keith Papini.

Sherri Papini was arrested on March 3, according to the filing. Late that night, her family issued a statement through Utah-based publicist Chris Thomas, expressing their full support for her and criticising the arrest and its announcement.

"The family" was not defined. Thomas did not respond to a follow-up question about Keith Papini's involvement in the statement or representation by Thomas.

Sherri Papini reportedly lives with a relative in Butte County.

Sherri Papini has pleaded guilty to federal misconduct and "is under exceptional pressure with national media attention on her case," according to Keith Papini of Mountain Gate.
