Seattle Sounders win 2022 Concacaf Champions League

Seattle Sounders FC clinched the 2022 Concacaf Champions League by defeating Pumas UNAM 3-0 at Lumen Field on Wednesday night.

It is the first time an MLS team has won the tournament and qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Last week, the Rave Green tied the game 2-2 in Mexico City before winning 5-2 on aggregate in front of a CCL record crowd of 68,741.

In the 45th minute, Ruidiaz scored a deflected goal past Pumas goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera after Xavier Arreaga delivered a left-sided cross.

His second came in the 80th minute, curling home a beautiful feed from Lodeiro after some intricate build-up play.

In the 88th minute, Lodeiro scored after Jordan Morris' shot was saved by Talavera and rebounded into his path off the post.

Substitutes Kelyn Rowe and Obed Vargas stepped up as Seattle's historic run this spring continued.
