Liverpool Beats Villarreal to Reach Champions League Final
Liverpool has reached the Champions League final three times in five years, but it wasn't easy.
The Reds came back from a two-goal deficit in the first leg to win the match 5–2.
At the Estadio de la Cerámica, Jürgen Klopp's side faced a raucous crowd energised by Villarreal's comeback.
To advance to the final, Liverpool must first defeat Manchester City or Real Madrid.
City leads4–3 on aggregate and will face either another Premier League powerhouse or a rematch of the 2018 final at the Bernabéu.
Meanwhile, the Yellow Submarine's fairytale Champions League run came to an end after knocking out Juventus and Bayern Munich.
But Villarreal had its fans believing in a trip to Paris for 45 minutes.
Villarreal put pressure on Liverpool in three minutes. Former Tottenham and Watford midfielder Étienne Capoue sent a perfect one-time cross through the area to Boulaye Dia.
