Steve Keim tried to trade back into the first round in 2019 to get wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and Kyler Murray.
Keim needed a wide receiver in the draught three years later and used a first-round pick to get Brown.
Brown, who played at Oklahoma with Murray and had 91 catches for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns last season, was traded to the Cardinals for their 23rd overall pick on Thursday night.
A third-round pick from the Ravens, the Cardinals now have three picks on Day 2 of the draught on Friday.
"This trade would've been done regardless," Keim said after the deal. "It wasn't a reflex. I wanted him."
Brown was already on his way to Arizona when the news broke Thursday night, after the Ravens selected safety Kyle Hamilton with the 14th pick.
Brown then attended the Cardinals' draught party at State Farm Stadium.
The Cardinals will also have a pick on Friday. The Cards now have three picks in the second and third rounds, respectively.
