City Wins 7-Goal Champions League Semifinal Thriller

Manchester City and Real Madrid gave soccer fans one of the most exciting Champions League knockout stage matches ever.

As for next week's second leg in Madrid, expect chaos after a seven-goal romp at the Etihad.

The winner will face either Liverpool or Villarreal in the Champions League final in Paris.

Only Karim Benzema scored twice on the night, passing Robert Lewandowski for the season goal lead with 14—and he did so in style, as he has all season.

Kevin De Bruyne scored City's first goal in less than two minutes, sending the Etihad into raptures.

Riyad Mahrez's cross into the box gave Real Madrid the lead before they had even left their own half.

The hosts' early goals continued. Gabriel Jesus doubled City's lead in the 11th minute. City went ahead 2–0 after David Alaba misplayed a De Bruyne cross into the box.
