The Black Dahlia Murder's lead singer and founding member, Trevor Strnad, has died.

His bandmates made the announcement earlier today via Instagram (May 11).

"We regret to inform you of the death of Trevor Scott Strnad.

"He was loved by all who met him. He was a beloved son, brother, and Shepard of good times," the group wrote in a statement.

The band described Strnad as "a walking encyclopaedia of all things music," and they weren't kidding.

He was a writer as well as a hugger, and he was widely regarded as one of the greatest comedians of all time.

His lyrics were full of tales, spells, horror, and whimsy, which he shared with the world.

His entire existence had been devoted to being the star of your show.
